Sammendrag
Contribution to ARW 2022 (Artistic Research Week at KHiO).
Exhibit #14/1 is a lineup: a forensic panel with elements in different materials that serve to document findings and drive a query. The panel documents the reading of 6 books, situated and positioned by the events of a journey in the summer of 2021.
The panel search and queries possible connections between the confinement of Aby Warburg in the Bellevue asylum (related in Ludwig Binswanger’s sick journal [1921]), and the confinement during the pandemic (as discussed by Bruno Latour in After Lockdown [2021]).
The project does not answer the questions it asks, but drives the query to the point where the “material speak”: and can reveal things that overthinking will blur. Which is the point of a lineup, whether taken in a forensic, design or forensic design sense.
The lineup #14/1 is a map for uncharted territories with no rescue, where the point of the map is to monitor change rather than retracing ones’ steps. And where the virtue a map is that it is passive. And at this a lucid counterpoint to agitation.
The point of this map is therefore not to act, but to emerge as an enabler of a different kind, which is to be a body—or, a proxy witness—to change, whether it is in our environment, in us, or a compound state of energy. Changes in the electrosphere. A turn to the terrestrial.
