dc.description.abstractLina Lapelytė explores contemporary forms of performativity that are related to a genre of new opera and performance in a context of contemporary art. Her works are fueled by expression, marked by pastiche and grotesque, contextual and conceptual musicality, theatrical suggestibility, stylized visuality. Performances and operas unfold sensitivity to feminine identity and it’s complex relation to contemporary reality in a manner of tradition of postfeminist art. Tautvydas Bajarkevicius Lina Lapelytė will talk and sing her recent works – Ladies (2015), Hunky Bluff (2014), Candy Shop (2013), Have a Good Day! (2011/2013). Born 1984 in Lithuania. Lina Lapelyte lives and works in London and Vilnius. She received her MA in Sculpture at the Royal College of Art, London in 2013. Lina Lapelyte has been exhibiting and performing at the Kai studios, Brussels; Borealis, Bergen (2015), Baltic CCA, Newcastle; Whitechapel Gallery, London; Serpentine Pavilion, London; Queen Elizabeth Hall, London; DRAF, London (2014); CCA, Glasgow, Ikon Gallery, Birmingham (2013) and others.nb_NO
