Beskrivelse
Bread! Education! Freedom! was the slogan chanted during the Athens Polytechnic uprising in 1973, a massive demonstration against the military junta who held power in Greece from 1967 to 1974. The revolt, initiated by students, quickly developed into a popular uprising, and ended in bloodshed with tanks charging against and rolling over the gates of the university. The students had added to the traditional anarchist motto "bread and freedom" a third word, education, therefore defining education as a basic condition for democracy and citizenship.
